This Privacy Policy explains how NgheRo.Vn (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use Read PDF Aloud with offline ai (the “App”). The App helps you import PDFs, paste text, and write notes, then read or listen to that content with text-to-speech features.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

Documents and reading content

The App lets you import PDFs, paste text, and write notes. Your library content, reading progress, marks (bookmarks), highlights, playback state, voice/model settings, and app preferences are stored on your device.

Text is extracted from your PDFs and read aloud on your device. For PDF pages without a text layer, the App may use your device’s built-in text recognition (OCR) to read the page image on your device. Your document content is not uploaded to our servers for text extraction, recognition, or text-to-speech.

We do not use your document content for advertising. We do not sell your document content.

If you delete documents in the App or uninstall the App, locally stored document data may be removed according to your device operating system’s behavior. The one exception is the free-plan usage allowance described below, which is kept in the iOS Keychain and can remain after you uninstall the App.

Voice model downloads

Some voices are built into the App. Other voices are downloaded once, on demand, and then run offline on your device. Downloads are fetched from file-hosting services we use to distribute voice models (for example, GitHub Releases). Like any download, the hosting provider may receive technical information such as your IP address and the requested file.

Purchase and subscription information

If you purchase a lifetime unlock, a monthly subscription, or a 3-month subscription, your payment is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

To unlock paid features and restore purchases, the App sends purchase validation information to our backend at api.nghero.vn, such as:

  • product identifier;
  • purchase token or transaction identifier (including the App Store receipt or Google Play purchase token);
  • purchase time;
  • platform;
  • app identifier and app version;
  • the random device identifier described below.

We use this information only to validate purchases, restore entitlements, prevent fraud, debug purchase problems, and provide the paid features you requested.

Free-plan usage allowance

The free plan limits listening to 15 minutes per rolling 24-hour period. To enforce this, the App stores a small record on your device with the amount of free listening used and the time the current period started. It is kept in the iOS Keychain (on Android, in Keystore-encrypted app storage), so on iOS it can remain on your device after you uninstall the App, and it is used to keep the allowance from resetting when the App is reinstalled. This record is stored only on your device, is not sent to us or to any third party, and is not linked to your identity. It is not included in device backups or transferred to other devices. You cannot remove it from within the App; it is small, and it stops mattering once the period ends.

Device identifier

The first time you open the App, it generates a random identifier and stores it on your device. It is not your advertising identifier (IDFA) and is not derived from your name, email, or hardware. We use it to link purchase validation, usage analytics, push notification registration, support conversations, and crash reports to the same installation. It is reset if you uninstall the App or clear its data.

Usage analytics

The App sends basic, aggregated usage events to our backend at api.nghero.vn, such as which screen was opened, which button or option was tapped, and app lifecycle events (for example, app opened), together with the device identifier, app version, and platform. We use these events to understand which features are used and to improve the App. These events do not include the content of your documents.

The App also includes the Firebase Analytics SDK. The device identifier is set as the Firebase user ID and a user property so events and crashes can be associated with the same installation. Firebase (Google) may also process an app instance identifier and technical device information. The App does not request the advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Diagnostics and crash data

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics to help us find and fix crashes and serious errors. Crash reports may include technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, crash logs, stack traces, error context, and the device identifier.

Crash reports are used to improve reliability and troubleshoot issues. We do not use crash data for advertising.

Support messages and attachments

If you contact support from inside the App, we receive the message you write, any photos you choose to attach, the device identifier, platform, and app version, and any replies we send back. The App asks for photo library access only so you can pick photos to attach; it does not read your photo library otherwise. Please do not include sensitive information in support messages or attachments that you do not want us to see. We use this information only to answer your request and improve the App. Support conversations may be retained so we can follow up on the issue.

Notifications

The App may ask for notification permission on both iOS and Android, for example to send support replies and app updates. If you allow notifications, the App registers a push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging, which on iOS relies on Apple Push Notification service) with our backend along with the device identifier, platform, and app version. If you tap a notification, the App may tell our backend that it was opened. You can change notification permission at any time in your device settings, and the App works without it.

Automatically collected technical information

Some technical information may be collected automatically by the App, operating system, app store, Firebase services, or our backend when required for app operation, security, diagnostics, purchase validation, or compliance, such as IP address, device model, operating system version, language, and app version.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve the App;
  • import, store, display, and play your reading content on your device;
  • remember your reading progress and settings;
  • validate purchases and subscriptions;
  • restore paid access;
  • understand feature usage through basic analytics;
  • respond to support requests and send notifications you allow;
  • diagnose crashes, bugs, and performance problems;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
  • comply with legal, tax, accounting, and platform requirements.

Sharing of Information

We may share limited information with service providers that help operate the App, including:

  • Apple and Google for app distribution, in-app purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and account-level purchase management;
  • Firebase/Google for crash reporting, analytics, and push notification delivery;
  • Apple Push Notification service for notifications on iOS;
  • GitHub or similar hosting providers for voice model downloads;
  • NgheRo.Vn backend services for purchase validation, entitlement management, usage analytics, support, and notifications.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, platform rules, or to protect our rights, users, and services.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your document content for targeted advertising.

Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services governed by their own policies, including:

  • Apple App Store;
  • Google Play;
  • Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Cloud Messaging;
  • GitHub (voice model downloads);
  • React Native and related platform libraries.

Your use of app stores and operating-system services is also subject to the privacy policies and terms of Apple, Google, and your device platform.

Data Retention

Locally stored document data remains on your device until you delete it in the App, clear app data, or uninstall the App, subject to your operating system’s behavior. The free-plan usage allowance described above is the exception and may remain in the iOS Keychain after uninstall.

Purchase validation, usage analytics, support, notification, and diagnostic records may be retained for as long as needed to provide paid access, support refunds and disputes, comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, and improve app reliability.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device, app store account, and backups secure.

Your Choices

You can:

  • delete imported documents from the App;
  • manage notification permissions in your device settings;
  • decline to attach photos or contact support;
  • manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play;
  • request deletion or access to information we control by contacting us;
  • uninstall the App to remove local app data, subject to your device backup and operating-system behavior.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

International Users

Your information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live. These countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we take steps intended to protect your information according to applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice where required.
